Introducing… Melina Moussali

Currencies Direct April 17th 2020 - 2 minute read

Today we’re talking to Melina Moussali, our Global Head of Sales and Dealing Compliance.

Melina is based in our London office and has worked for Currencies Direct for 8 years.

Hey Melina! What did you do before joining Currencies Direct?

I moved to the UK almost 23 years ago after studying International Banking and Finance in France and the UK. My whole career has been spent in Foreign Exchange, covering payments and FX risk management solutions in various capacities and countries, from dealing, setting up and leading client facing teams to managing European based business units.

What does your position involve?

Whilst I hold several hats in the organisation, my primary function is to ensure that our global sales and dealing teams operate at very high standards. Some of our activities are highly regulated, and quite rightly so. Making sure that the principles of our regulators as well as our internal values are reflected in how our teams function in practice in their daily role is critical. I ensure that our processes are fit for purpose and that our teams are supported and trained to adhere to these processes.

What is your favourite thing about working for Currencies Direct?

The Currencies Direct group operates in a very entrepreneurial spirit which can be challenging but also very rewarding as there is always something new to work on, implement or launch. Our set up means we can be very agile in a fast moving market.

What is the most rewarding aspect of your role?

From the very beginning of my career I have always found reward in creating and supporting the right environment to drive customer satisfaction in a fair environment. Customers (whether private or corporate) are at the forefront of everything we do, and building/supporting our teams in this spirit is key.

What motivates you?

Positive change and progression in all aspects of life are key for me. Whilst there should always be a time to stand still and enjoy the moment, I also find great motivation in learning anything new, as random as these things may be!

What do you enjoy doing in your spare time?

Besides loving travelling and immersing myself in other cultures, I have a keen interest in interior design and all types of calligraphy, the perfection and beauty of which I find mesmerising. I am somehow also a rather skilled and keen DIYer! Where there is a practical problem I always find a practical solution.

Do you have a favourite quote?

Paulo Coelho: “The world is changed by your example, not by your opinion.”
