CD South Africa: Caution: Fed minutes ahead

Currencies Direct August 17th 2015 - < 1 minute read

The rand won't pick up any speed this week until Wednesday's US and SA CPI releases and the US Federal Reserve's meeting minutes come out. It's one month to go before the US Fed decides whether or not it will raise interest rates in September, and markets looking for any data that may sway their decision.

There is some good news to start your Monday: China has calmed market fears and stabilised the yuan; Greece has faded from market attention with a deal all but signed and sealed over the weekend (has the can just been kicked a year down the road?); Brent crude oil is below $49 a barrel, and that should keep petrol prices at manageable levels! That's all folks, enjoy the week.
