Dress Down and Donate to The Food Chain

Currencies Direct March 31st 2009 - 2 minute read

Last Friday because of holiday and other commitments we had our lowest attendance in the office for Dress Down Friday. This did not deter anyone from getting involved and contributing and we managed to raise on the day …… huge drum roll…… GBP180.90.

How fantastic is that! For the 3rd week running we have broken our own record – and in the last Friday of the month to boot! I am so proud, and I can’t wait to tell The Food Chain the good news. Really WELL DONE TO EVERYONE!

As is now becoming routine there was more than one way to contribute – Phil did another Rate Watch, GBP against USD, which wasn’t won this week as no-one was within his strict rule of 10 pips, which means it’s a rollover next week! I want to make a special mention to Hulya, the winner of last weeks Rate Watch as she donated her winnings to the cause this week, thank you Hulya you’ve set a great example!

Mark O’Sullivan bought the beers and sold for GBP1 each at the end of day – which once again proved very popular!!

Friday also saw the unveiling of our new Co-operative Wall. We are using this to show a running total of how much this office has raised and also to display information about the charities we have supported. Come over and check it out!

Andrew Davis of The Food Chain http://www.foodchain.org.uk/ took a lot of time out of his day to give 2 talks about what The Food Chain is all about and he has left some volunteer forms and information sheets which are underneath the Co-operative Wall for anyone to take who didn’t take one last Friday. There are also 2 collecting tins labelled Spare Change and Foreign Currency. This will be left for anyone to bring in coins and put in as they are passing.

This week we are moving into April and the 3 charities we will be supporting are Cancer Research, the British Heart Foundation and Save The Children. There will be a more exciting format to your donations – more details to follow later this week!

Thanks for reading, give yourself a pat on the back for the achievement so far – you’re worth it!
