Monthly Wrap: 5 Reasons to move to Australia

currency-newsMonthly Wrap: 5 Reasons to move to Australia
If you’re thinking about a move to Australia but you aren’t quite convinced, here are five reasons why it might be time to take the plunge!

1.Multiculturalism

With over 40% of Australia’s population being born outside of the country and Australians identifying with over 300 ancestries, Australia truly is a multicultural society.
Almost seven million people have migrated to the country since 1945, with Brits being the largest group of foreign-born residents.
Australians have a day to celebrate multiculturalism: Harmony Day. This is celebrated annually on the 21st March, with many people wearing orange in honour of the occasion.

2.Job opportunities

If you like the sound of higher pay and shorter working hours then Australia may be the place for you.
The current minimum wage in Australia sits at AU$18.93 (around £10), higher than the £7.83 (soon to be £8.21) minimum wage in the UK.
With unemployment in Australia at a low of 5% and shortages for many professional and trade occupations, moving there could broaden your opportunities.

3.Low population density

If you’re looking to move somewhere that has a lot of space, you’ll find plenty of it in Australia. The country has one of the lowest population densities of any continent in the world.
The population density of the UK is currently said to be 275.66 people per square meter. If you compare this to Australia’s 3.26 people per square meter you can really see how spacious it is down under if you’re outside the major cities.

4.High quality of life

The Human Development Index of 2018 ranked Australia at number three, 11 spots ahead of the United Kingdom. The index looks at life expectancy, education and gross national income per annum.
Compared to the UK, on average Australians have a longer life expectancy, and bring in a higher average wage. Australia also ranks as one of the top ten healthiest countries, sitting in eighth spot.
In Mercer’s Global Quality of Living Survey all Australian cities were within the top 40, with Sydney at 10 and Melbourne coming in at number 16.

5.Low air pollution

Australia boasts one of the lowest air pollution levels in the world, with the country ranking sixth on the world pollution index at 23.97. The UK comes in at number 25.
As well as the low air pollution you can enjoy a variety of beautiful natural ecosystems.
In Australia you’ll find more than 500 national parks and 14 world heritage sites, which means you wouldn’t find it difficult to think of ways to spend your spare time.
These are just a few reasons why Australia may be the perfect place for you to call home.
If this has convinced you to make the move, good luck!
