What did you do before joining Currencies Direct?
I started my career in India after completing my Engineering Degree in IT at Delhi University.
I moved to the UK in 2014 and started working as a Business Analyst at Barclaycard. After a few years I moved into Product Management. My last role before joining Currencies Direct was as a VP for Digital Innovation at Barclays Bank.
What are the main responsibilities of your current position?
As a Product Owner for the corporate platform, I’m responsible for defining the roadmap, managing the product backlog, prioritising needs, overseeing development stages, anticipating customer requirements, evaluating product progress and acting as a liaison between various stakeholders and teams.
What is your favourite thing about working for Currencies Direct?
I enjoy the fact that it’s a comparatively small team where I can take more responsibility and shape the product vision in a hands-on way. I also enjoy the flat management structure and how approachable everyone is.
What is the most rewarding aspect of your role?
The ability to be able to meet with, and speak to, our customers and understand their problems and then shape the product roadmap to suit their need is really satisfying.
What motivates you?
In an age where technology is changing in the blink of an eye, if you’re not doing something different from yesterday then you’re losing ground to your competitors. That need to constantly change and learn keeps me motivated.
What do you enjoy doing when not at work?
I like to be active on weekends so it’s either cycling or a long walk or playing some sport. If I’m not playing a sport, you’ll probably find me watching a sport!
