While the coronavirus pandemic has been a difficult time for everyone in terms of safeguarding our health and learning to live with restricted social freedoms, it has undoubtedly afforded us an opportunity to revolutionise the way we work.
Hey Deepak! What did you do before joining Currencies Direct?
I’ve worked for Currencies Direct since 2007, but before that I was a management consultant for a consultancy firm based in Manchester. My focus was on creating and delivering cross-border trade enhancement programmes for UK businesses on behalf of regional and national public government agencies.
So, what does being Global Head of Strategic Partnerships involve?
My role is all about creating and implementing business development strategies for Currencies Direct’s corporate business. I’m particularly focused on the company’s partnership programme and ensuring that our product proposition matches the needs of our customers. It’s an exciting role where I get to analyse trends to work out which partner sectors to target with which products. I’m actively involved in positioning the products with clients using the help of our marketing team. I also get to meet customers and partners at their offices, at networking events and sometimes even as a speaker at seminars.
A few years ago I created Currencies Direct’s E-commerce service which is now used by thousands of online sellers across the globe. At the moment I am working on a service that will allow financial services businesses to help their customers manage complex currency hedging needs with ease.
For you, what’s the best thing about working for Currencies Direct?
The environment here is great – hard working but really friendly. The business is large enough to challenge you but small enough to feel like a family.
What’s the most rewarding aspect of your role?
Apart from meeting business objectives, the most rewarding aspect of my role is helping others develop and acting as a positive leadership role model. There are over a 150 staff that touch B2B activity within Currencies Direct so there’s never a dull moment
What motivates you?
I thrive on success and especially being more successful than my competition. Apart from that, I yearn to retire early with millions in the bank – a pipedream perhaps but something to aim for!
How do you spend your downtime?
I have a young family so I have a lot of fun times with them at weekends. I also like cycling (not in lycra!), motorsports and I really enjoy cooking and of course eating the fruit of my labours. I’m also a self-proclaimed house music aficionado.
Do you have a favourite quote?
