Corporate social responsibility

At the heart of the company a willingness to do more, give more, save more.

Currencies Direct believe that Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) goes beyond charity and extends to doing the right thing by our people, partners, customers and communities. We understand our role and responsibility in the community, both local and global, and we have a structured, long term programme in place to make this commitment a reality.

Our staff is at the heart of our CSR program, it is an ethos and approach that is owned by them. Our CSR champions are representative of all parts of the business, this committee is responsible for co-ordinating and promoting the Currencies Direct CSR culture whilst encouraging our enthusiastic staff worldwide to get involved in a wide range of fundraising activities close to their hearts.

We support PERSONAL causes such as helping the ill child of one of our staff members in Spain; we commit to regular donations; we work in the COMMUNITY such as becoming part of Business in the Community where we do volunteer work as well as raising money, we like a CHALLENGE – 25 team members are running around the world and every Friday we enjoy having FUN supporting our chosen charities. 33 different charities benefitted from our dress-down Fridays, feet up for the football and Movember events among others.

PERSONAL

Save The Children LogoEvery month generous Currencies Direct staff members give a portion of their salary to the Charities Trust as part of the Payroll Giving programme. Payroll Giving was set up 20 years ago by the HMRC to help people who want to benefit from tax relief while supporting a range of charities. The ongoing commitment from staff ensures the charities supported by the Charities Trust have a regular income and are able to plan and budget.

The Charities Trust have awarded Currencies Direct a Silver Award in recognition of the volume of donations they generate and the number of staff involved in the Payroll Giving scheme.

CHALLENGE

Save The Children Logo"I am so impressed that the FXtreme team at Currencies Direct are undertaking to fundraise for Save the Children in 2011. Covering the 7,917 miles of the world's diameter is certainly no mean feat and the money raised will make a huge difference to children's lives they aim to raise enough for 10 000 measles vaccinations protecting children from a life threatening illness. A big THANK YOU to the FXtreme team!" Victoria Lyon Dean: Save the Children Regional Community Fundraiser

At the start of 2011, 34 Currencies Direct staff signed up for FXTreme, a challenge that will see us run around the world. Each participant keeps a record of their running, cross training, walking or even swimming with our online partner ‘runkeeper’.  We are adding all the distances together and hope by December to have completed the 12 742kms to go around the world.

All participants are being sponsored with funds going to Save the Children which was selected as the charity which will help children in all the countries we ‘cross’ as we run around the planet.  Donations can be made on: www.justgiving.com/fxtremechallenge
